Idiom to wyrażenie językowe, którego nie można tłumaczyć dosłownie, jest to wyrażenie właściwe danemu językowi. Część idiomów jest zapożyczana z innych języków, więc stają sie uniwersalne. 

Czy warto znać idiomy angielskie na poziomie podstawowym?

Tak, niektóre idiomy stały się tak popularne, że ich nieznajomość utrudni nam komunikację.

Be over the moon – być bardzo szczęśliwym, uradowanym

Keep an eye on sb/sth – zwrócić uwagę na coś/kogoś, popilnować

I must go out for a minute. Could you keep an eye on the baby, please.

Keep fingers crossed – trzymać za kogos kciuki

Don’t worry. You’ll pass the exam, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Better late than never -Lepiej późno niż wcale

I passed my driving test at last. Well, better late than never!
